This aquatic plant is a kind of water lily found in the Amazon. Its leaves are sometimes 6 feet in diameter. The top part of the leaf is flat and the bottom part, which stays in the water, is thorny. The edges of its leaves have a ridge up to 6 inches high, giving it a tray shape. Its flowers have a pleasant scent and may be up to 1┬╜ feet in diameter. They open for only two days. On the first day they are white, and on the second, pink.
